US stocks end lower after Fed hikes interest rates X

(Infocast News)    U.S. stocks whipsawed lower on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate for the first time in over three years to fight stubbornly high inflation stemming from soaring crude oil prices during the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. 

The DJIA fell 631.21 points or 1.21%, to 51,461.90.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 3.15 points or 0.01%, to 25,978.42.

The S&P 500 fell 33.92 points or 0.45%, to 7,551.81.

Stocks rose in the three major European markets.

The FTSE 100 rose 30.34 points or 0.28%, to 10,688.47.

The German DAX rose 135.47 points or 0.53%, to 25,537.75.

The French CAC 40 rose 50.31 points or 0.62%, to 8,140.59.
